Power Foods
Yesterday, we were in line at the grocery store. As usual, I perused the headlines on the magazine rack. Of course there were the sensational stories about President Bush leaving Laura, Paula secretly wedding Simon, Tom and Katie's whacked out marriage, etc. In addition, I noticed quite a few promised articles relating to diet and food (not unusual). One caught my eye - "Power Foods" - with a caption promising foods that would increase health and longevity, improve heart function and, of course, aid in weight loss. For a moment I felt the urge to buy the magazine. Then I remembered. I already know what those power foods are: Leafy greens, bright, colorful vegetables, berries, salmon, various nuts, blah blah blah. Nowhere in that article would I find permission to eat chocolate chip cookies for breakfast or drink Mountain Dew like water. And, even if they're fried in 'healthy' canola oil, I don't think we'll find french fries there either. Am I so wrong to dream of a world where bright colorful Skittles will improve my blood pressure or where doughnuts will speed up my metabolism? I guess I can dream of that world but I better start living in this one :(I'm going to the gym tomorrow, I swear!)

Why LB thinks soccer is a beautiful sport... I think most people would appreciate this - even if they're not soccer fans...

After some help from my favorite blogging expert, I finally figured out how to post some video clips...

Home Improvements
So, we've lived here now for just over a year and are REALLY tired of these off-white walls in every room of the house. As I mentioned, we started with Anushka's room.

Anushka was quite the picasso - she was so helpful in painting her walls purple!

Saturday, we finished with Diggity's. We think they turned out OK - Go Yankees...

should have previewed
I'm in a bad habit of editing other people's writing. When I was on my mission, my sister used to put disclaimers in her letters warning me not to edit them. I should be so critical of my own work. I was looking at the posting from earlier this morning and realized that the font changed about a quarter way into it. DUH
My favorite grammar joke:
A man is visiting Harvard University, looking for his daughter. He comes upon a Harvard student and asks, "Can you tell me where the engineering building is at?"
The student arrogantly replies, "Here at Harvard, we do not finish a sentence with a preposition."
The man replies, "Oh. Sorry. Can you please tell me where the engineering building is at, Jackass?"

Third Time's a Charm??
So, last fall I started writing a blog about our family. I wrote a couple of drafts that are now completely outdated. And, since they've never been posted, I have decided to start fresh for the new year. It's January 18th and, after a fairly noneventful, illness-laden holiday season, we're ready for 2007 and especially for it to warm up. We've had no Colorado blizzards, no Texas ice storms, and no record cold like California - nevertheless, it has been frigidly cold here in Utah and we're starting to feel like we would have been better served to grow coats of fat (well, BB and the kids would need that:) and fur and sleep through this winter. It certainly would have been less expensive that way. I feel slightly boring after reading blogs from Paris Soulmate and Joe and Denise picking up Emma in China. Here are our recent highlights:
-We redid Anushka's room with beadboard and purple paint
-Ultimo started framing our basement
-Both children are now signed up for gymnastics - I'm especially interested to see how the 18-month-old class goes...
